I did a theyyam photo tour with Arun in October 2024. Arunda is an excellent mentor and excellent photographer. Photographers organizing Photo Tours can be one of four combinations
1. Great photographer, bad mentor 2. Bad Photographer great mentor. 3. Bad photographer, bad mentor 4. great photographer, great mentor.
Arunda is strongly the fourth option. He does not hold back on sharing tips from his vast three decades of photography experience. I personally loved that he is a very warm human being with an excellent sense of humor.

The other unique about him is, he is very sharply observant. He could be lost in thought, looking at the complex menu on a camera while paying attention to what is being talked about, and at the same time, making sure that nobody is in harms way.

Possessing indefatigable energy, and at the same time he is a super chill person.

The Theyyam, Kannur 2024 trip was truly a fairytale experience! I feel incredibly fortunate to have been a part of it, especially under the mentorship of Arun Saha. All I had to do was show up—Arun took care of the rest. Beyond guiding me on camera settings, he knew exactly where to place me for the perfect shot. I had initially thought about going solo, but now I can see how much I would have missed out on if I had.
Witnessing Theyyam and Kalaripayattu through his guidance was an eye-opener; he helped me see and capture these art forms in ways I hadn’t imagined. This Theyyam Oct 2024 is my second tour with Arun and I hope it will be succeeded by many more. The first was with my son in Kulasai. It was quite a hot weather and the conditions were dynamic and demanding. We still were able to get pretty good shots. Theyyam on the other hand was a bit more relaxed with a couple of organized sessions on Kalari and Kathakali. Both of these made the trip a lot easier. Regardless of the conditions, the plans, Arun’s ability to push us to our best while not crossing any boundaries makes it really worthwhile to go with Arun on any of the sessions he organizes. This flexibility is something that is rare and I really value that in him. He also teaches a lot about post processing which in itself is a session not to be missed. Even without photography, Arun’s trips are fun and help you gain good friends. Thanks Arun!

I have been following Mr. Arun Saha’s work for the past eight months and I was mesmerized seeing his beautifully composed pictures all across social media. I got my first opportunity to travel with him during the Kulasai Festival trip October 2024. I loved his approach towards the participants as compared to my previous tours with various other mentors all over India during my last seven years of exploring India.
He initially gave us a full detailed briefing on what to expect from the tour and the angles and settings that you will need along with the preferred gear for the photo shoot of each day based on the festivals various activities along with BTS photoshoots in the villages etc. This session was the most important lesson which helped us in being prepared and ready for the photo shoot in spite of the huge rush of devotees and photographers around us.
Daily evening, he provided us with detailed processing techniques to be followed to carry out the post processing of the shots taken during the day. Best part of the tour was his very friendly attitude to each and every participant and willingness to answer all queries of each participant in detail.

I first heard about the pehlwan (wrestlers) of Kohlapur a few months ago and decided to include it in our next India itinerary. I wanted to tell the visual story of the rigoureus regime of the pehlwan and their life in the talim. The only drawback was, would I a woman be allowed inside the talim to obtain the photos I desired.
Fortunately a friend directed me to Arun Saha and from the first point of contact Arun knew what I wished to achieve and offered a tailor-made photo workshop for myself and husband.
We travelled to Kohlapur from Mumbai and Arun from Pune, and met exactly at the pre-arranged time and place. Arun’s planning of the best photographic time to visit each talim was very well organised. During the four separate sessions not only was the shooting fruitful but also pleasurable to be with Arun. Arun offered good tips, and was instrumental in obtaining for me the access that I required.
Arun and I met as strangers and left as friends. I look forward to the opportunity of shooting with Arun in the future and would have no hesitation to recommend Arun Saha to other photographers.

Initially I was skeptical about my trip for KULASAI DASARA. I personally believe any photographer must know the story and background so that he is able to visualize entire perspective.
Arun Saha was our mentor for the trip. He is so serious that before the trip he organized a Webinar to share the story and reply to our all queries regarding the tour that made us understanding the entire journey easier.

The photography tour to Ladakh was an experience of a lifetime, one that I will cherish forever. This was my first photography tour, glad that I had it with one of the best photographers cum mentors. It was a wonderful learning experience for me.
